SUMMARY:EMSO Conference - preparing for UN Decade of Ocean Science
DESCRIPTION:Updates: Read here the conference final joint statement released by the Research Infrastructures Consortia represented at the conference – EMSO\, EMBRC\, EuroArgo\, ICOS-Marine\, LifeWatch and EPOS. \n  \n  \nThe United Nations Organisation has launched the 2021-2030 Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development to provide a framework to ensure sustainable management of the Oceans. \nEMSO ERIC\, the European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and water-column Observatory Research Infrastructure Consortium\, is keen to announce the \nEMSO Conference: preparing for UN Decade of Ocean Science. \nEMSO ERIC welcome marine researchers\, engineers\, and representatives of industry\, Institutions\, Research Infrastructures and Funding Agencies. \nThe conference aims to offer an international scientific framework to increase the coordination and the effectiveness of international cooperation worldwide. By stimulating the exchange of information\, best practices\, and strategy alignment\, the conference is designed to contribute to the improvement of the conditions for sustainable development and fulfillment of societal needs\, increasing the awareness of the importance of the Ocean’s health. \nThe main conference themes are: \n\nOcean Health and Biodiversity;\nClimate change;\nHazards (natural and anthropogenic);\nBlue economy\n\nThematic sessions will consist of presentations and discussions. \nThere will also be two special sessions: \n\nEMSO ERIC data services (12th Feb.)\nDescription: This workshop will expose attendees with EMSO ERIC data and will provide training on data services\, including the EMSO ERIC virtual research environment. The attendees will access EMSO ERIC data using different mechanisms and tools (including the EMSO ERIC API and MOODA) and will be provided with training for manipulating and visualizing the data programmatically using notebooks. The workshop will focus on time series data (EOVs) and is open to any individuals interested in EMSO ERIC data and data analysis and visualization.\nEMSO Label\, priorities and roadmap (14th Feb.)\nThe EMSO Label is undergoing development. EMSO Regional Facilities providing services under the EMSO Label will fulfill a set of commonly agreed QA/QC rules. The current Label development consists in specifying those rules and how their implementation assessment will lead to the Label awarding\, in order to meet international expectations with regard to the production of ocean observation data. Presentation and update of the main Label chapters will be provided. The discussions will provide insight from participants into each of them. The subsequent Label roadmap will be defined. Although this session is primarily intended for EMSO stakeholders in charge of the Label development\, we welcome all EMSO service users as well as individuals involved in similar initiatives worldwide. (Registrations are now closed for this event)\n\nIf you wish to submit an abstract\, please read the call for abstract submission here – The deadline is 17th January. \nClick here for the conference agenda. \nFor any other needed information feel free to send an email to: EMSOConference2020@emso-eu.org We will reply in the shortest time possible. \nInformation about the venue of the conference and about accommodation at this page. \nTo register\, please click on the “register” button below and fill in the form. \nThe deadline to register is 17th January. \nWe hope to count on your active participation!

SUMMARY:Goldschmidt Conference 2019
DESCRIPTION:The Goldschmidt Conference 2019 will be held in Barcelona\, Spain\, from 18th to 23rd August. Goldschmidt is the foremost annual\, international conference on geochemistry and related subjects\, organised by the European Association of Geochemistry and the Geochemical Society.\nThe extremely rich program of the event is divided in fourteen different themes\, featuring talk sessions\, workshops and social activities. \nEMSO would like to recommend one session in particular\, titled “The Oceanic Particle Flux and its Cycling within the Deep Water Column”\, (ID 10h) within the theme: Chemistry of the Oceans and Atmosphere. The session is intended to be multidisciplinary\, allowing scientists from different research areas – such as geochemistry\, biology\, oceanography\, modeling and climatology – to present the current status of our understanding of the most important issues related to oceanic particle flux. The aim is to find a synthesis\, while in turn highlighting knowledge gaps in the particle flux and its role in geochemical cycles. \nYou can read the abstract of the session here. \nThe deadline for abstract submission is 29th March. \nFind all the info at the conference website.
