In the era of Digital Twins for the Ocean\, the need of best practices is fundamental for a more interoperable and reliable use of ocean data\, for the evolution of the worldwide observing network from the deep ocean to the coast and for dealing with complex forecasting systems. DESCRIPTION:Geo-INQUIRE is offering a summer school in the Gulf of Corinth (Greece) for PhD Students\, PostDocs and Early Career Scientists from the fields of Solid Earth Science. Three days of lectures will be followed by a one day field trip to the Perachora Peninsula\, site of the 1981 M6.7 and M6.4 earthquakes (https://corinth24school.gr/field-trip/ ).\nThe school will take place in Kalamaki Beach Resort (https://corinth24school.gr/venue/ ).\n“Geodesy applied to the study of GeoHazards” is the main focus of the summer school that is organized jointly by NOA (Athanassios Ganas) & CNRS (Anne Socquet). Invited speakers and Geo-INQUIRE experts (https://corinth24school.gr/invited-speakers/ ) will provide a high-level program (https://corinth24school.gr/program/ )\, showcasing several Geo-INQUIRE services in hands-on sessions.\nWe aim to make the summer school an inclusive event\, so special attention will be given to female applications and applications from widening\, associated countries and the outermost regions as defined in the EU regulations.\nThe school’s topics include GNSS and INSAR time series analysis\, new instruments and emerging topics in monitoring faults (Near Fault Observatories etc.)\, strain rate computation\, fault inversion modelling\, and multidisciplinary applications to different fields (earthquakes\, active tectonics\, volcanoes\, underground storage monitoring\, hydrology\, landslides). It is a key event to network and exchange ideas with policy makers\, funders\, and representatives of research institutions\, research communities\, and data- and e-Infrastructures active in the EOSC ecosystem. \nThe EOSC Symposium 2024 will take place on 21-23 October 2024 at the H4 Hotel Alexanderplatz in Berlin\, under the patronage of the German Minister for Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger. The event is organised by the EOSC Association\, the EOSC-A German Mandated Organisation\, NFDI\, with the support of the Horizon Europe project EOSC Focus\, and the ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics\, a member of EOSC-A Member. \nThe Symposium is divided into twenty-six sessions that address\, among other things\, the ambitions of the EOSC Tripartite Partnership\, the EOSC Federation\, the launch of the EOSC EU Node\, the EOSC landscape\, including the European Common Data Spaces and the Artificial Intelligence trends\, and the impact and contributions of stakeholders. \nThe programme includes six unconference sessions selected by a popular vote from submissions under the Call for Unconference Sessions. It is also a networking opportunity for users across the value chain\, and will feature a workshop to engage with user needs and feedback. \nEmphasis will be placed on data from across the value chain including satellite data\, derived products\, climate data records and their applications. Blue-Cloud is offering e-infrastructure services (computing\, storage\, analytics\, SSO\, AAI\, generic service)\, a data discovery service (10M+ datasets and products from European marine infrastructures such as EMODnet\, SeaDataNet\, Copernicus\, Ecotaxa and others)\, and research-intensive virtual labs\, embedded in a Virtual Research Environment open to any users with federated identity to the marine research community in Europe (and beyond). \nIn this workshop\, we aim at assessing Blue-Cloud federated services towards the needs and challenges of other research infrastructures active in marine and climate research\, ultimately stimulating a debate around the impact of open science federation in practice. \nWho is this workshop for\nThe Blue-Cloud first federation workshop is by invitation. DESCRIPTION:The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) announces the 15th edition of the Glider School\, an internationally recognised training forum in marine glider technology\, which will take place from October 20 to 24 at its headquarters in Telde\, Gran Canaria. The application period for attendance will remain open until June 30. \nThe educational content of the Glider School covers both hardware and software aspects through dedicated theoretical and practical sessions in classrooms\, laboratories\, and open waters\, using real glider units from different technologies—both profiling and surface types (AutoNaut\, Sailbuoy\, Slocum\, Seaglider\, and Seaexplorer). The focus is on the technical characteristics\, operational capabilities\, and specific performance of each. \nThis highly specialized training week offers an introduction to the handling and operation of the main commercial marine glider technologies. It is aimed at professionals and trainees worldwide involved in a broad range of oceanic scientific and technical disciplines\, including engineering\, marine sciences\, maritime services\, and academia\, among others. Following the 2024 edition\, a total of 221 students from 36 countries across five continents have been trained through the Glider School. \nThe Glider School benefits from the direct support of leading global manufacturers of both gliders and oceanographic sensors—as well as other modules that make up these cutting-edge\, unmanned autonomous marine observation platforms—who participate as part of the teaching staff\, alongside expert operators from academia and sectors linked to the Blue Economy.

DESCRIPTION:The year 2026 marks the 10th Anniversary of EMSO becoming a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC).  \nEstablished by the European Commission in September 2016 following years of rigorous preparatory work\, EMSO ERIC has spent the last decade anchoring Europe’s marine research capabilities. By providing uninterrupted\, high-quality data from the ocean surface to the abyss\, EMSO serves as an essential foundation for global environmental science and climate change research. \nToday\, EMSO stands as more than an infrastructure; it is a thriving ecosystem of researchers\, engineers\, and cutting-edge regional facilities dedicated to understanding our ocean’s future. \nTo celebrate this milestone\, the core anniversary events will take place from 15 to 16 December 2026 in Rome\, Italy\, at the Barceló Roma. \nProgramme Overview\nTuesday 15th December – 10 Years of EMSO Science: Observing the Changing Ocean \nA full-day academic programme showcasing EMSO’s scientific excellence and observation milestones. The day will feature international keynote lectures\, panel discussions\, and thematic presentations. \nThe scientific tracks are structured around the four fundamental research priorities guiding our open-ocean and deep-sea monitoring efforts to understand global environmental changes: \n\nOcean Dynamics: Open ocean temporal variability across spatial scales\nNatural Hazards: Spatio-temporal process variability and geohazards\nMarine Ecosystems: Assessing baseline and potential changes of open ocean benthic and pelagic ecosystems\nClimate Change: Geophysical events\, climatic/anthropogenic changes\, and deep carbon storage\n\nThe day will conclude with a dedicated poster session and a welcoming Ice Breaker happy hour. \nFor whom: Scientists\, engineers\, regional facility leads\, and Service Group members. \n  \nWednesday 16th December – Info day and Official Ceremony \nWednesday seamlessly bridges the gap between technical value chains\, governance\, and high-level political synergy. \n\nMorning (Info Day): The morning opens with EMSO Info day\, focusing on the technology value chain from deep-sea observation to knowledge dissemination. Sessions will showcase how technology serves science under extreme conditions and present EMSO’s Catalogue of Services\, including Physical Access (PA) for researchers and private companies\, Virtual Access (VA) for data delivery to European and international data aggregators\, and training frameworks via the EMSO Academy.\nAfternoon & Evening (Anniversary Ceremony): The peak of our celebration features the Official Anniversary Ceremony.
