On 21th February, the EMSO-Azores relay buoy started drifting and communication with the seabed stations stopped. A joint recovery operation was soon set up by EMSO partner Ifremer and the Portuguese Institute of Marine Research (IMAR) and last week (16th March) the buoy was safely brought to Horta’s harbour, where the exact cause of the mooring line rupture is being assessed.
