EMSO encourages the communit to take part in the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development: Early Career Ocean Professionals Survey. Launched by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC), the survey will enable early career ocean professionals to contribute to the preparatory phase of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, 2021-2030. The Decade represents a unique opportunity to strengthen the transnational effort to generate the global ocean science needed to support the sustainable development of our shared oceans.
The main aim of the survey is to raise awareness about the Decade and to collect and integrate the views of early career ocean professionals in the preparation phase. In particular, the survey intends to “i) identify early career ocean professionals and gather information about their interests and expertise relating to the Decade; ii) gather information about perceived priority actions for the Decade; and iii) identify key capacity gaps and challenges” .
