Focused on ‘delivering the science we need for the ocean we want’, the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference, will be hosted by the Government of Spain in Barcelona from 10 – 12 April 2024 and co-organized with UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC/UNESCO), and will bring together various actors, including governments, decision-makers, maritime sectors, philanthropy, academia, the private sector, and civil society.

All these voices will engage in this international event in a constructive dialogue to celebrate and take stock of progress, and set joint priorities for the future of the Ocean Decade and the continued success of ocean sustainability efforts, across the science – policy – society interface. This event will cover the full range of Ocean Decade Challenges including critical issues such as climate change, food security, sustainable management of biodiversity, sustainable ocean economy, pollution, and natural hazards.
