We are delighted to announce the  launch of our dedicated AMRIT Website www.amritproject.eu. AMRIT – Advance Marine Research Infrastructures Together is a cutting-edge project funded by the European Union under the HORIZON-RIA program. This ambitious 48-month project which commenced in March 2024 is set to redefine collaboration, coordination, and innovation in marine research across Europe.

At the heart of Europe’s ocean knowledge lies the European Ocean Observing System (EOOS). Powered by vital Marine Research Infrastructures (MRIs) like EMSO, EURO-ARGO, ICOS ERICs, and others, EOOS is the backbone of in situ ocean data for both the EOOS network and the Copernicus program. Yet, as ocean science evolves, the need for better coordination, smarter integration, and a streamlined ocean data value chain has never been greater.

Why AMRIT Matters

This transformative project unites leading MRIs with international coordination expertise from OceanOPS and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Together, we’re setting bold goals:

  • Seamless operation of marine observation platforms.
  • Maximized use of cutting-edge sensors and accelerated development of new technologies.
  • Harnessing the complementarity of diverse observation platforms.
  • Ensuring the coherence of the ocean data value chain – from collection to delivery.

Your Role in This Exciting Journey

We’re just getting started, and we’d love for you to join us! Stay up-to-date with AMRIT’s progress, explore opportunities for collaboration, and be part of a community that’s shaping the future of marine research.
