On 3 April 2025, Aljaz Maslo, Data Officer at EMSO ERIC, represented EMSO in the interactive round table discussion during the DOORS webinar on international marine data standards, joining other European Marine Research Infrastructures to exchange views on challenges and opportunities for harmonising marine data in the Black Sea region. The following day, on 4 April, he took part in the DOORS online hands-on training session focused on physical and biogeochemical Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs). In his presentation, he introduced EMSO’s federated data infrastructure and emphasised the role of ERDDAP as the backbone enabling harmonised and FAIR data access. He also presented the EMSO Metadata Specification Document and the EMSO Metadata Harmonizer tool, both of which support improved data quality and interoperability across regional facilities. Aljaž’s contribution highlighted the importance of standardized, accessible marine data for fostering scientific collaboration and accelerating climate change research, in line with the goals of the DOORS initiative.
