We are pleased to announce a special workshop and live demonstration organized by EMSO ERIC and SHOM on the occasion of Sea Tech Week 2026, the biannual event which brings together experts and stakeholders, and aims to strengthen international collaboration in marine science and technology.

PART 1: Workshop

In-situ measurement of marine currents: state of the art, new developments and scientific applications

7 October 2026, 3.15-5.45pm CEST

Subsurface currents can be measured using fixed and moving platforms equipped with Doppler current meters, including profilers. These platforms often operate autonomously for extended periods, providing large amounts of data on ocean currents. This session will review advances in current measurements, new technologies, calibration techniques, recommendations for measurement, data processing and distribution, and scientific applications.

THE PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION

8 October, 2-4pm CEST | Location: SHOM Facilities

The experience moves from the conference room to the SHOM facilities for a live, hands-on demonstration of ADCP maintenance and calibration procedures. This is a rare opportunity for attendees to observe the instrumentation in a professional hydrographic setting and discuss technical details with the specialists who operate them daily.

Important Note: Attendance for the live demo at SHOM  is strictly limited to 10 participants. All interested parties must submit a scan of their ID to emmanuelle.dilasser@tech-brest-iroise.fr no later than 8 September (one month prior to the event).”
