Eleven European Research Infrastructures in the Marine domain, among them EMSO ERIC, are organizing a side event within the 9th EuroGOOS Conference. The aim is to bring together scientists and officers from the various marine Research Infrastructures (RIs) and marine research communities across Europe, to discuss our future strategy under a collaborative plan within the landscape of the UN Decade of Ocean Science and the European Ocean Observing System (EOOS).

In line with the EOOS vision and the UN Decade of Ocean Science objectives, we will discuss the next steps in sharing knowledge and expertise, strengthening cooperation on-field activities and new technologies.  Integration of activities, creation of robust interactive data interfaces, promoting joint activities on marine research and services, and raising public awareness on marine environmental issues are other topics that will be addressed during the event.

The session will be opened by George Petihakis who will introduce the Marine European Research Infrastructures (RIs) landscape. Then the session will continue with identifying the potential key elements within each RIs for collaborating in the development of the EOOS and what should be the actions that to be carried out in the coming years to better serve the EuroGOOS community.
