The EMSO ERIC All Regions Workshop EU seafloor and water-column observatories Challenges and Opportunities towards integration will take place in Rome from 9th to 11th October 2017. The workshop will bring together members of the marine science and industry communities to exchange knowledge and best practices related to the advances in the framework of the EMSO mission and objectives.
The twofold purpose is to proactively improve the coordination and efficiency of the scientific and technological teams already involved in EMSO activities, and attract new participants to pave the way for the involvement in EMSO of new countries, new observatory sites and scientific disciplines.

The event will inform on:

  • the state of the existing EMSO ERIC nodes , and the overview on expected and potential nodes
  • the state of the art of subsea observatories design and operation
  • the state of the exchange of know-how and best practices with EMSO ERIC counterparts outside Europe to help the alignement of strategies and encourage new developments promoting a global dimension

The Workshop will also promote a discussion on access and services required by the scientific community and the industrial sector and on training needs of operators, managers and users.
